Lead, Asbestos Technician

JK Environmental Services Inc. requires experienced, knowledgeable, motivated and career-minded Asbestos Supervisor. Asbestos Supervisor will be required to lead crews in the removal of ceilings, walls, beams, and other structures following hazardous waste handling guidelines. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

**Position Overview**
Asbestos Supervisor will be required to remove asbestos from ceilings, walls, beams, and other structures following hazardous waste handling guidelines. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
**Responsibilities**
- Removes asbestos from ceilings, walls, beams, boilers, and other structures, following hazardous waste handling guidelines:
- Assembles scaffolding and seal off work area, using plastic sheeting and duct tape.
- Position mobile decontamination unit or portable showers at entrance of work area.
- Builds connecting walkway between mobile unit or portable showers and work area, using hand tools, lumber, nails, plastic sheeting, and duct tape.
- Position portable air evacuation and filtration system inside work area.
- Sprays chemical solution over asbestos covered surfaces, using tank with attached hose and nozzle, to soften asbestos.
- Cuts and scrapes asbestos from surfaces, using knife and scraper.
- Disposes of asbestos following guidelines
**Qualifications**
- Valid OH&S Asbestos Removal Certification
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers’ License and good driving record
- Experience in the asbestos removal industry preferred.
- Ability to perform repetitive heavy lifting.
- Able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Working knowledge of Asbestos Removal procedures
