Business Analyst Lead

Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with BF&M, a leading insurance provider with operations in Bermuda, Halifax and across the Caribbean, to recruit for their Business Analyst Lead in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

**Role Description**:
**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Providing overall management, training, mentoring, and support of business analysts
- Performance reviews and management
- Providing updates on the status, issues and risks on business analysis activities
- Eliciting and specifying current and desired business capabilities and participate in the definition and delivery of solutions that meet business requirements
- Gathering, documenting, analyzing, verifying, validating, communicating and managing business requirements on projects by following the current SDLC methodology. This involves planning and facilitating business requirements sessions, conducting interviews and maintaining or creating documentation.
- Ensuring written requirements are clear, understandable, audience appropriate and accurately captures the key information required for the project or operational change or enhancement
- Partnering with technical staff to interpret the needs of the business, assist in the design of the solution, and deliver the expected result to our business partners
- Working closely with business stakeholders, partners and IT teams to design the technical solution and ensure its fit with the enterprise wide business architecture
- Developing current and future states of business processes, systems and data flows
- Active participation in both traditional and agile project delivery
- Reviewing test results against specified business requirements
- Supporting training as required
- Supporting user acceptance activities as required

**Your Qualifications**:

- 8- 10 years as a business analyst with demonstrated experience in developing detailed business requirements, functional and non-functional system requirements, and supporting user acceptance testing
- Experience with insurance or reinsurance and/or financial services, preferably with exposure to multiple product lines (e.g. Life, Health, Pensions, P&C)
- Experience leading direct and virtual teams (3-6 staff)
- Experience leading cross-functional (IT and business) teams (5 - 15 members)
- Ability to bridge the knowledge gap between business and technical SMEs
- Experience interfacing with external suppliers and managing engagement dependencies
- Experience in software/platform/service including cloud service selections and implementations
- Experience working in an agile environment
- Experience with regulatory compliance projects
- Strong understanding of end-to-end system landscapes
- Post-secondary education or the equivalent knowledge gained through combination of education and experience
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in business analysis or MBA or certification from IIBA (CCBA, CBAP, ECBA) or PMI (PMI-PBA) is an asset
