Automotive Shop Foreman
**Position Summary**
The Shop Foreman oversees the daily operations of the automotive service department, ensuring repairs are performed efficiently, accurately, and safely. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Supervision & Workflow**
- Assign repair orders fairly among technicians
- Monitor progress of repairs throughout the day
- Conduct spot checks and road tests to ensure quality
- Maintain high standards to minimize comebacks
**Technical Support**
- Assist technicians with diagnostics and complex repairs
- Stay current with technical bulletins and training
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer warranty procedures
**Customer Service**
- Handle customer complaints promptly (within 24 hours)
- Establish follow-up programs to confirm satisfaction
- Communicate clearly with service advisors and customers
**Administrative Duties**
- Maintain accurate documentation of repairs and parts usage
- Monitor technician productivity and payroll records
- Ensure proper inventory and care of special tools
**Safety & Compliance**
- Enforce safety protocols and shop cleanliness
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, hazardous waste disposal, and other regulations
**Team Development**
- Recruit, train, and motivate service technicians
- Conduct performance reviews and support skill development
- Foster teamwork and a positive work environment
**Required Skills & Attributes**

- Organizational and planning proficiency
- Ability to resolve conflicts and mentor staff
- Familiarity with shop management software and scheduling tools
**Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certifications preferred)
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in automotive repair
- Prior supervisory or foreman experience strongly preferred
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
