Assessment accommodation **Duties**: The Laurentian Forestry Centre, part of the Canadian Forest Service at Natural Resources Canada, in collaboration with Université Laval in Québec City, is seeking a doctoral student under the Research Assistant Program (RAP) for a project focused on estimating forest biomass using terrestrial lidar systems. - Participate in a study focused on estimating aboveground biomass components (stems, branches, foliage) using terrestrial lidar data and quantitative structural modeling techniques. - Contribute to the dissemination of scientific results, including: - Writing scientific articles for peer-reviewed journals; - Presenting findings at national and international scientific conferences. - Depending on project evolution, assist in the planning and execution of field data acquisition campaigns. Most experimental work and analyses will be conducted at Université Laval. Degree equivalency Experience: - Remote sensing applied to ecological or forest environments, including data processing and interpretation; - Forestry, particularly related to the characterization of stand structure; - Quantitative structural modeling of trees using 3D data acquired with terrestrial or mobile lidar systems; - Planning and conducting field data collection on forest structure.
