Job Summary

Positions at this level assist a senior position in carrying out established activity programs. The Recreation Aide encourages resident participation in individual and group recreational activities related to their needs, abilities and interests which promote the physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs of the residents.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Setting up furnishings and equipment for activity projects, special events.
- Teaching activities such as arts and crafts, sports, music, woodworking, cooking, gardening, exercises and/or other activities as assigned by Recreation Coordinator.
- Preparing for and carrying out activities such as bingo, crafts, games, and singsongs and/or other activities as assigned by Recreation Coordinator.
- Accompany patients on outings and during social activities.
- Performs other related duties assigned by the Recreation Coordinator.

**Qualifications**
- Education, Training and Experience_
- Grade 12 plus completion of an Activity/Recreation diploma from a recognized program or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- A student with a valid letter of enrollment and proposed graduation date in a recognized activity assistant program, therapeutic recreation diploma or degree program that meets experience, training, and certification requirements.
- Current Standard First Aid CPR-C.
- Food Safe Level 1 certification.
- Passes and complies with Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check upon hire and every 5 years thereafter.
- Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination
- **Skills and Abilities**_
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to supervise
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
- Legally entitle to work in Canada.

**Working Conditions**
- Hours of work include day, evening, weekday and weekend shifts
- Required to work statutory holidays and overtime as required
- Situations involving conflict or undesirable interactions
- Physical demands including but not limited to lifting, standing, walking, pushing and pulling

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $28.95 per hour

- Abbotsford, BC V2T 1N5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
