**Position Summary**:
Under the direction of the Manager, Agricultural Services and the Foreman, Agricultural Services, the Equipment Operator (Class 1) is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various types of equipment to support the Agricultural Services Department. This position conducts parks, cemetery, hamlet, County yard and subdivision maintenance including, but not limited to mowing, weed whipping and spraying, as well as sprinkler repair. The operator will work independently and as part of a team in varying weather and terrain conditions.

**Wage Grid**:Grid Level: Equipment Operator 1, 2025, Start Rate: $19.98. Job Rate: $22.48

**Reports To**:Manager, Agricultural Services and Foreman, Agricultural Services

**Duties and Responsibilities**

1. Operate assigned equipment based on classification level and training including but not limited to: pick-up truck, quad, hand tools including shovel, basic power tools, push or ride-on mowers, weed whipper, pressure washer

2. Perform various park maintenance activities.

3. Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform minor maintenance and repairs as needed.

4. Ensure equipment is operated in compliance with safety regulations and County policies.

5. Conduct traffic control flagging, clean and prep job sites, load and deliver materials

6. Support other Agricultural Services operations as required and/or instructed.

7. Document work completed, including time, materials used, and conditions.

8. Traffic control and flagging duties for construction or worksites.

9. Participate in operator evaluations to determine competency level on various equipment.

10. Accurate record keeping of daily records, reports, and timesheets.

11. Actively participate in Lethbridge County’s Health and Safety program.

12. Attend training sessions specific to the operational needs of Lethbridge County.

13. Work overtime as required by the department to accomplish tasks in an efficient and timely manner.

14. Follow Occupational Health and Safety requirements, municipal bylaws, County policies, directives, and procedures.

15. Assist with other duties as required and instructed.

**Education/Training/Skills Required**

1. Must have a minimum of a Class 5 Driver’s License in good standing.

2. A satisfactory 5-year driver’s abstract required.

3. Grade 12 diploma or GED certificate.

4. Experience operating mowers and other related farm equipment. Knowledge of associated maintenance and repairs is an asset.

5. Must have experience and knowledge in the operation of various light equipment including hand and power tools.

6. Ability to work independently, follow directions and use good judgment to interpret, analyze and modify methods and procedures.

7. Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and physical capability to withstand long periods of standing and/or sitting, walk over rough, uneven terrain, perform tasks that require recurring bending, crouching, and reaching, and lift up to 50kg occasionally as required.

8. Willingness to be outside in a variety of extreme weather conditions.

9. Certification in WHMIS (2015), First Aid/CPR, TDG, Flagger Training, H2S Alive, ICS 100 are considered assets.

10. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.

11. Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.

12. Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including OH&S regulations.

13. Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office suite.

14. Familiarity with Lethbridge County and the Alberta Township System (ATS) road network an asset.

15. Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
