**Shipwheel Cattle Feeders Ltd.**, a 4th Generation family farm in Taber AB, that currently operates a 5500 head feedlot and we have a summer grazing operation. Shipwheel produces 3 types of compost, honey, fruit, eggs and we are experimenting with a garden. We are very a very dynamic, diverse, company that has a focus on regenerative agriculture. We are looking to add a key person to our team.

**Part Time Assistant Animal Herd Health/ Feed Truck Driver**

Cattle Herd Health Roles and Responsibilities
- Monitor health of cattle
- Deliver basic treatments to cattle
- Assist Veterinarian when required
- Monitor cattle feeding behavior
- Follow procedures for cattle health and welfare
- Willingness to check cattle by foot
- Use computer system to record treatments to cattle efficiently
- Removal of dead stock from pens
- Assist with bedding & placing hay in cattle pens
- Maintenance and cleaning of the processing barn, medicine room and all medical tools
- Settle cattle after receiving into their new pen
- Process and vaccinate cattle according to sex, weight, body condition score, source and feeding plan
- Perform Yardcrew Maintenance requirements and logs
- Follow livestock centered stockmanship
- Ensure all waterbowls are working daily
- Maintain cleanliness of yard, buildings, machinery and tools

**Feed Truck Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Operating feed truck to deliver rations
- Receive Feed and Supplement
- Prepare Feed for Cattle
- Monitor Cattle feeding behavior
- Perform Maintenance Monday Requirements & logs
- Use computer System to feed cattle efficiently
- Maintain farm vehicles
- Monitor inventory of supplies ie) supplement, chop hay etc. & notify if inventory is depleted
- Run feed mill and roll grain to appropriate processing index

**Other Roles and Responsibilities -**
- Shipping and receiving cattle
- Vaccinating cattle
- Bedding
- Feedlot maintenance
- Yard work / Snow Removal
- Irrigation
- Basic care and maintenance of equipment.
- Waterbowl maintenance and fence repair

**Qualifications and Educational requirements**
- Cattle herd health background with 2-3 years’ experience providing the basis for the ability to treat and diagnose cattle. An animal, production, or agriculture college diploma an asset.
- Livestock centered stockmanship training is an asset
- A valid driver’s license is required
- Should have basic math skills
- Should have an understanding of rations,
- Computer knowledge and managing feed intake/bunks
- Able to run loader and drive tandem truck.
- Able to work with other team members.

Preferred Skills:

- Ability or knowledge in truck & machinery maintenance and repair. Mechanical ability is necessary.

Ability or knowledge in animal health and welfare
- Willingness to learn and continually improve livestock centered stockmanship
- Ability to run loader and drive tandem truck
- Ability to confidently use computer
- Ability to work with other team members
