**JOB PURPOSE**:
The Technical Buyer is responsible for the sourcing and procuring of technical material (i.e.,aircraft components/ parts, tools, goods and services) and for the ordering of non-technical material (i.e., general office supplies, capital expenditures such as furniture and equipment). The incumbent will produce goods and services in accordance with approved policies and procedures, contractual requirements and the Service Level Agreement.
**SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Prepare Purchase orders in accordance with requirements;
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers specifying quality and receiving date;
- Monitor market changes, competitor prices and products and past sales patterns to forecast future demand;
- Source new products and alternative suppliers;
- Assist in maintaining the Approved Vendor List (AVL);
- Control stock levels by managing receiving dates and/ or selling surplus stock;
- Monitor the performance of vendors and suppliers and, if necessary, terminate contracts;
- Ensure ordered goods arrive on time;
- Source and negotiate “best” pricing for new items or “one-off’s”;
- Participate in the review of key suppliers and potential cost reduction initiatives;
- Manage established procurement process within Skyservice systems and/or Quantum;
- Provide reports and updates to the Purchasing Department Management when requested;
- Achieve service level agreements with internal and external customers;
- All other duties, as assigned by management.
*** This position will be located either in Toronto or Montreal**
**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED**:
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of Buying/Purchasing experience; in an aviation Supply Chain Procurement environment;
- Aviation industry experience is preferred;
- Knowledge of suppliers' network in the aviation industry;
- Basic Accounting knowledge, an asset;
- Strong computer skills MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Supply Chain systems, Quantum Component Control;
- Familiar with parts based systems;
- Ability to effectively negotiate price, quality, delivery and other terms with suppliers;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Attentive to details and accuracy;
- Highly organized and focused on work priorities;
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team as well as work independently;
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environment;
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a focus on fostering effective collaboration with all stakeholders;
- Flexible to work on an on-call schedule, on rotation;
- Demonstrate focus on process improvement to deliver high quality results;
- Self-driven, energetic and results oriented;
- Occasional travel may be required.
**EDUCATION**:
- Post secondary diploma in Supply chain or a related field
- PMAC certification is a strong asset
