Health and Safety Coordinator

Prince George, Canada Westcana Electric Inc Full time

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain current company wide health and safety program in accordance with WorkSafe BC and COR guidelines
- Provide safety support and resources to Estimators, Project Managers, Supervisors, and Foreman
- Assist in the coaching, mentoring, and implementation of the HS&E programs in the office and the field
- Assist with new hire onboarding
- Develop monthly safety meetings
- Respond to incidents and perform incident investigations in conjunction with management and employees
- Arrange third party training for employees as required
- Maintain in house digital safety platform
- Perform yearly COR Internal Safety Audits
- Development of job hazard assessments, site specific job procedures, exposure control plans and confined space documentation when required by the general contractors or the legislation
- Track and review of all safety documentation to ensure compliance
- Monitoring of crew safety performance through site inspections, identifying, and resolving issues from inspections through corrective actions
- Perform site visits when necessary to ensure compliance with H&S procedures

Qualifications:

- 3+ years of relevant experience in a construction safety role
- Safety experience with an electrical company considered an asset
- Experience creating and implementing safety programs
- Construction Safety Officer Certificate
- COR Internal Auditor Certificate
- Level 1 first aid
- Experience conducting audits
- Ability to travel as needed
- Thorough understanding of current WorkSafe BC legislations, OH&S Regulations, and the Workers Compensation Act
- Thorough understanding of incident investigations
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and on time
