As City Manager, you will be a champion of the City’s people and resources and will ensure that continued opportunities exist for public participation related to civic issues affecting the community.

As the most senior official reporting directly to the Mayor and Council, you will support Council’s Strategic Planning process and ensure its implementation. You will provide effective advice and support to the Mayor and Council in developing and implementing policies and strategies that address the unique qualities and needs of Port Moody residents. Providing strong leadership directly to the Executive Leadership Team and indirectly to all management and staff of the City, you have a truly exceptional record of working effectively with elected officials, staff, boards, and committees and volunteers, and will be a motivating leader, fostering a culture of collaboration, engagement, and shared values.

You are a collaborative leader committed to building on the City’s excellent relations with regional municipalities, businesses, and agencies including other levels of government and key stakeholders.

You are a strategic leader with a bias for action leading all City corporate goal planning, objectives, and priorities that align with the City’s Strategic Plan and Corporate Organizational Development Plan. With a proven track record of success in advancing organizational priorities, you will be adept at creating opportunities for service innovation and effectiveness, including shared success across services. You connect well with people and will support an organizational culture that embraces change, diversity, and fosters professionalism, honesty, innovation, and an enjoyable work environment.

You must have, and demonstrate, political acumen and emotional intelligence as a strategic advisor to the Mayor & Council, working actively to advance Council’s mandate while ensuring a system of efficient, responsible, and accountable administration and operations.

You will bring proven experience as a leader in building teams and developing people and significant accomplishments should include community planning initiatives, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. You will have overseen capital works and infrastructure programs and have proven experience in understanding the duties of local government with emphasis on balancing community needs and supporting sustainable budgeting. You will have demonstrable experience working effectively with residents and the business community, including developers, and supporting economic development strategies.

You offer a post-secondary degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field such as Planning or Engineering. A minimum of ten years of progressive senior leadership experience in a local or regional government setting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience in other relevant settings, is expected.
