**Transitional Supportive Housing Coordinator**
Position Description:
Support victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking in Community St. George's supportive housing facility. Yakhiya'take'nhas Yukwahwatsilay^tu is a transitional housing program for Indigenous women and their dependent children who are experiencing violence or homelessness or are at risk. It provides support as these women and children transition to safe and secure housing. Yakhiya'take'nhas Yukwahwatsilay^tu in Oneida means, “They and I are helping families.”
Yakhiya'take'nhas Yukwahwatsilay^tu is an 11-unit apartment building that provides shelter for up to one year in a safe, supportive, communal living environment. Utilities are included but tenants pay rent. The site offers onsite laundry facilities, a meeting area, shared kitchen, play area and TV common area for children. Our goal is to transition residences into permanent, safe and affordable housing.
This position would provide advocacy, safety planning, emotional support, resources, life skills, and navigating systems for indigenous community. Assist participants with goal setting and conflict resolution. Provide support and guidance for individuals and families in staying safe. Collaborate with victims and landlords to ensure victims can enter and maintain permanent housing.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide crisis intervention, counseling and outreach supports to indigenous women staying in the transitional houses and their children.
- Complete assessment to identify settlement goals that will assist the residents to integrate into the community
- Provide coordinated case management with internal and external stakeholders, including liaison with Intake and Case Management Worker to include appropriate referrals, advocacy and ensure continued support and stabilization
- Coordinate and facilitate tenant meetings; support groups; social, recreational, and educational programming events
- Supervise and train volunteers and student placements
- Represent the organization at community activities, networks and coalitions.
- Administer all aspects of residency in the transitional housing properties, including: selection and orientation of new tenants, tenancy agreements, rent collection, rent calculation, conflict management and other requirements
- Monitor management of the property through weekly visits of residents and visits with residents, including monitoring repairs and necessary orders
- Maintain confidential information concerning the Agency, clients, and program organizational plans, policies, and strategies with an understanding that such information will not be disclosed within the Agency, or outside of the Agency.
- Promote Agency in positive manner.
- Provide advocacy support, empathic listening, safety planning, and resources to victims.
- Support victims by providing life skills, support groups, and a connection to resources.
- Work with landlords and housing providers to assist victims in accessing permanent housing.
- Encourage teamwork by modeling & cooperative interaction with colleagues, volunteers, and
- community members. Use good interpersonal & conflict resolution skills.
- Establish and maintain frequent, positive communication with team members, share information
- willingly, and accept and provide feedback in a supportive, non-judgmental manner.
- Must be culturally agile and sensitive.
- Understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, trafficking, and oppression.
- Provide advocacy support, empathic listening, safety planning, and resources to participants.
- Provide oversight of 11-unit transitional living facility.
- Accompany participants to appointments, and provide transportation as needed.
- Understanding of legal and civil rights for the women.
- Work effectively with crisis situations using a trauma-informed approach.
- Exercise patience and compassion with clients, co-workers, and community members.
- Set and maintain limits and prioritize workload. Work independently and be highly motivated.
- Work with community partners to better provide wraparound services in our community.
- Be a leader in organization, lead by example, and provide support to big picture of organization.
- Data entry for statistical information.
- Narrative information for grant reports.
- Provide education and training to peers and community members as assigned.
- Maintain cleanliness and security of space and documents.
- Maintain punctual, consistent attendance.
- Attend Agency and community trainings and meetings as assigned.
- Be flexible and willing to meet Atlohsa's needs. Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Experience in non-profits, working with indigenous populations
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work in a cross-functional team
- Ability to accomplish goals with mínimal supervision
