**Job Overview**:
Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Shipping & Receiving Assistant is a key member of the operations team, responsible for ensuring the smooth handling of all incoming and outgoing shipments. This role supports production and inventory management by maintaining accurate records, coordinating logistics, and ensuring all materials are stored and distributed appropriately.
**Responsibilities**:
- Prepare and package items for shipment, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
- Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
- Local pick up and deliveries
- Verify outgoing shipments match purchase orders or sales orders.
- Maintain records of all shipments, including tracking information.
- Sort and pick parts/materials
- Inspect and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders or invoices.
- Document discrepancies and communicate with Purchaser to resolve issues.
- Unpack and organize materials into appropriate storage areas.
- Support inventory counts and ensure accurate stock levels in the system.
- Monitor and report low stock levels to the Production Manager.
- Assist with maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse.
- Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, and other required documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all transactions.
- Follow all company safety protocols and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials, if applicable.
- Ensure shipping and receiving processes comply with company policies and industry regulations.
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in logistics or related fields is an asset.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehousing preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Valid Driver’s License, ability to hook up and tow a trailer
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management software.
- Ability to operate forklifts or other warehouse equipment (certification is an asset).
- Physical ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs
- Previous experience in a shop/manufacturing environment is an asset
