**Schedule**: 8:30 - 4:30, Monday to Friday (75hrs bi-weekly)

The Fund Development and Communications Specialist is primarily responsible for providing administrative support to the Sr. Manager of Fund Development & Strategic Initiatives.
**Primary Objectives**:
In a broader sense, the Fund Development and Communications Specialist participates as support in efforts to execute on our fund development and communications plans, as well as strategic projects as assigned.
**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Provides support to the Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives, including:

- Assisting in researching potential grants and communicating with foundations and donors as needed
- Supporting the implementation of a donor recognition process
- Providing event planning and community engagement support when required
- Drafting and submitting reports to funders as required
- Tracking deadlines for submitting grants and required grant reporting

2. Executing a variety of communication activities including:

- Supporting the implementation of the strategic communications plan with an overall focus on internal and resident communication, as well as raising the organization’s profile in the community
- Social media content development and posting to grow the organization’s digital media presence in the community
- Assisting with content creation and management on the organization’s website
- Liaising with all departments as well as identified residents and clients to obtain information for the creation of impact stories and reports
- Executing the creation of communications material such as newsletters, presentations, and other marketing materials
- Supporting the Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives in responding to media requests and preparing media response briefings

3. Provides administrative oversight related to strategic projects including but not limited to RFP responses, research initiatives, and marketing campaigns, including:

- Retrieving and compiling necessary information (e.g. user/client requirements and relevant past materials);
- Monitoring project progress and addressing potential issues;
- Helping develop marketing and public relations ideas for staff recruitment, fund development, and community engagement activities
- Overseeing quality controls to ensure deliverables meet requirements;
- Measuring and reporting on project performance and outcomes;
- Acting as the point of contact for participants in various projects; and
- Other special projects and duties as assigned from time to time.

**Requirements**:
**Education**:

- Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, business administration, political science or a related area would be preferred

**Experience**:

- Minimum three (3) years experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, and/or Fund Development related roles; preferably with a non-profit organization
- Experience initiating and coordinating diverse projects.
- Experience and comfort engaging with people from all walks of life, including marginalized populations
- Experience effectively collaborating with multiple stakeholders.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proven knowledge and skills in proposal writing and stakeholder relations
- Attention to detail in both writing and reviewing key documents related to funding contracts
- Demonstrated skill in research and writing
- Exceptional Time management
