Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Supply Chain the Purchasing Expeditor is responsible for ensuring material availability direct from the external vendors to meet required production schedules. Maintains on-going materials status reports and communicates the status to internal and external customers.

**As a Purchasing Expeditor, your main responsibilities will include (but not limited to)**:

- Execute and generate purchase orders, based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids and other similar and necessary documents related to the purchasing of supplies, equipment, services, and materials
- Maintain professional relationships with suppliers. May resolve issues (e.g. pricing, quality, timing, claims, contract disputes, etc.) associated with terms and conditions of service agreements
- Understand demand/spend profile for commodity areas, and provide this information as necessary
- Track and report cost savings or avoidances
- Maintain current accurate records and files of all vendor agreements and related procurement records
- Assist in sourcing initiatives
- Support SQA with supplier performance resolution
- Be the primary contact between DRS personnel and assigned suppliers
- Perform a variety of general tactical duties as required to support purchasing activities
- Coordinate and monitor expedites and open orders for compliance to required deliveries and makes appropriate updates in the MRP system
- Coordinate, distribute and maintain data for assigned departmental reports
- Support the monthly Estimate at Complete (EAC) and Estimate to Complete (ETC) data collection and validation
- Maintain a positive and cooperative working relationship with suppliers
- Ongoing communication with relevant parties is essential. Proactivity where possible and quick response is essential
- Work well under pressure given that the dynamics of the role and material shortages are often identified at the back end of the project
- Integrate customer business practices with DRS practices to ensure a smooth information flow

**What you require to be successful in the role**:

- Possession of a diploma in Material or Supply Chain Management, APICS certification or equivalent years of experience
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a similar role within the high-tech industry is a definite asset
- Thorough knowledge of MRP is essential
- Effective computer skills include spreadsheets and database creation, maintenance, and updates
- Good organization skills
- Effective customer service skills
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize and meet work schedules
- Ability to manage multiple assignments
- Works well within a team
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to complete standard reports
