Job Summary
The Content Strategist works within the OCIO Communications team to provide communications and marketing advice to clients within the OCIO and, in particular, supports the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and PrISM Safety and Risk Services (SRS) in developing and managing communication initiatives related to information security and promoting Privacy and Information Security related awareness across UBC.

Organizational Status

The Content Strategist is a member of the OCIO Communications team and reports to the IT Director, Communications

The Content Strategist is assigned to Privacy and Information Security Management (PrISM), and close working is required with senior stakeholders and colleagues across UBC, primarily Cybersecurity, University Counsel, and the PrISM Safety and Risk Services.

The position works closely with direct channels from the AVP and communications portfolio (Internal Communications, Public Affairs, Brand, and Marketing) to ensure alignment between UBC's privacy and information security strategies and the distribution of messaging to the campus community.

This position may require occasional travel to the Okanagan campus in support of outreach activities such as events, Town Halls, forums, etc.

Work Performed- Manages internal and external communications projects, determines project timelines and budgets, and develops contingency plans to keep projects on track. Coordinates workflow between members of project teams, including content contributors, user experience specialists, and external consultants. Develops and manages project budgets.- Communicate with business owners with respect to project status and negotiate any necessary changes to timelines or deliverables.- Actively seeks out partnerships and develops relationships with other campus units to identify and leverage opportunities for collaboration.- Ensures that messages are delivered in a coordinated fashion across appropriate communications channels. Collaborates and participates in developing the editorial content calendar, and continually plans for short
- and long-term content. Writes, produces, and designs compelling content to meet business goals and the needs of audiences, fully utilizing all channels available including print, web, in-person, social, digital signage, and video.- Develops and plans digital campaigns in alignment with brand and business goals. The primary focus will be on the management of outreach activities and events on all campuses to promote privacy and information security awareness to staff and faculty, including Town Halls, information sessions, training sessions, and special events.- Pitches story ideas for internal channels and external channels, including other campus publications and media, faculty and admin intranets internal newsletters, and industry publications.- Analyzes content performance by reviewing metrics, and insights and implementing best practices for action. Monitors and engages in brand-related online conversations.- Coordinates non-digital communications projects such as the design and purchase of promo items, the production and distribution of banners and posters, and the creation of resource materials to support in-person communications activities.- Creates and manages UBC-wide information security and privacy communication and engagement initiatives that reside in the PrISM portfolio. These initiatives increase the awareness of privacy and information security at UBC, with the overarching goal of keeping UBC's data secure.
