Remote Hobbyist

We are hiring a **Hobbyist & Video Data Collector** to assist in building high-quality datasets for a research project. In this role, you will use our provided hardware to **record structured video data** of yourself performing tasks related to specific hobbies — with an emphasis on capturing **hand and object interactions**.

You will be contributing to a **data collection project** focused on human hand movement, object handling, and environmental context. Examples of task data that we are looking for include **sewing**, **woodworking**_, _**painting**, or **baking**.

This role also involves **light quality assurance**, including reviewing your recordings for completeness and technical quality, and performing minor troubleshooting when needed.

**Responsibilities**
- Capture structured video **data** by filming yourself performing specific tasks
- Ensure clear and consistent recording of **hand-object interactions**:

- Maintain a clean, well-lit filming area suitable for repetitive tasks
- Review recorded videos for quality and completeness
- Follow predefined protocols for data collection
- Troubleshoot and report any issues with equipment or video quality
- Upload recorded data daily during working hours (9-5 preferred for coordination)

**Requirements**:

- Access to a **clean, well-lit**working space
- Access to an **iOS mobile device (iPhone 11 or newer)**:

- Reliable **internet connection with minimum 50 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload**along with access to internet router
- Comfortable performing repetitive, task-based work with a focus on precision
- Detail-oriented with basic tech literacy for handling recording devices and reviewing footage
- Able to follow data collection protocols accurately and consistently
- **Within Markham region or Waterloo region**

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience with data collection, usability testing, or video recording
- Familiarity with basic troubleshooting of recording devices or software
- Availability during standard working hours for easier coordination and uploads
