**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Duties**:

- Safety performance measurement, analytics and reporting is a critical component of BC Hydro’s
- Safety Framework (i.e., safety management system). It enables us to more effectively manage
- safety risks, learn as an organization, and most importantly, help workers and the public go home
- safe.
- This unique technical and leadership opportunity provides an exciting challenge to advance BC
- Hydro’s growing use of safety performance measurement, predictive and trend analytics,
- processes, and systems.
- As a key member of the Safety Framework & Reporting team, the M1 Manager, Safety
- Performance & Analytics, will lead a portfolio and team responsible for the sustainment and
- continual improvement of BC Hydro’s safety performance data acquisition, management,
- measurement, analytics, and reporting. This includes managing several supporting technology-
- Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

- Managing Data & Technology:
- Maintaining and continually improving the centralized, integrated, and standardized processes,

management and architecture of safety data and records to ensure the organization has reliable,
- accessible, and legally sound information.- Establishing governance, standards, and best practices with respect to safety data management,

data systems, analysis, and performance measurement. This includes ensuring that subordinates
- and processes adhere to these requirements.

- Developing and implementing short
- and long-term roadmaps, in alignment with enterprise-level

performance information and analytics.
Analyzing & Reporting:

- Overseeing safety and business performance measurement and reporting to senior leaders,

including facilitating development of key performance indicators, scorecards, and dashboards.
- Responding to a variety of complex and potentially sensitive internal and external inquiries with

respect to safety data analysis and reporting.
- Leading and conducting predictive and trend safety data analysis to drive organizational safety

performance improvement and regulatory compliance. This includes using predictive techniques
to anticipate risks and opportunities, analyzing large datasets to identify trends at the enterprise
and business function levels, initiating and leading studies to investigate identified trends, and
articulating performance narratives.
- Leading, overseeing and preparing safety performance reporting, including required BC Utilities

Commission performance reporting; the fiscal year BC Hydro Safety Performance Report; an
enterprise safety risk profile; reviews and in-depth studies of safety data trends; and other regular
reporting required within BC Hydro.
- Supporting BC Hydro’s safety and business planning processes by providing analysis and

recommendations with respect to setting, achieving, and measuring enterprise and business
group safety priorities, plans, objectives, and targets.
- Working collaboratively with Safety and other business groups to improve effectiveness and

service delivery of safety performance data to drive performance improvement and regulatory
compliance.
Managing Relationships:

- Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key internal clients and

stakeholders, including safety, operations, business planning, technology and finance
stakeholders, other analytics functions across BC Hydro, and senior leaders.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with industry peers and external stakeholders such as

Electricity Canada, with respect to safety performance measurement, reporting and analytics
practices, and benchmarking.
Leading a Function & Team:

- Leading and directing a team of analysts (MoveUP) and professionals to deliver on the Safety

Performance & Analytics work plan, including budgeting and resourcing as well as ensuring
appropriate team and individual performance and development.
- Acting as the key point of contact on safety data management and systems, and safety

performance measurement, analysis, and reporting.
