WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment in patient, staff and public areas. The work of cleaners influences the incidence of infection in the hospital by reducing the numbers of microorganisms from the health care environment. This is accomplished by environmental cleaning and disinfection. The duties of the cleaners may vary according to the area of the hospital in which they work.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Grade 12 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Previous cleaning experience in a hospital, healthcare or hospitality environment preferred
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment preferred
WHO YOU ARE:
- Demonstrated ability to accurately read and understand written instructions and procedures
- Must be alert, neat in appearance, pleasant, cooperative and physically capable of performing all duties as assigned
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Must be able to work as a team member
- Ability to lift, handle and push heavy equipment / supplies (weight of 20 to 40 pounds)
- Ability to tolerate frequent to continuous standing and walking
- Ability to tolerate bending and stretching
