**Student Respiratory Therapist - Apprenticeship (4 Positions)**

We are looking to hire Student Respiratory Therapists to meet upcoming needs at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC). These positions are specifically designed to support Student Respiratory Therapists. In order to cultivate a supportive entry to practice we are creating temporary apprenticeship positions for 4 student respiratory therapy students.

**What You’ll Do**:
The role of the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is to provide airway management, mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive) inhaled medication therapy, oxygen/medical gas therapies, therapeutic intervention, patient/family education and pulmonary diagnostics to adult, pediatric and neonatal patients within the established standards of practice of professional practice. Student Respiratory Therapists will be directly mentored with a dedicated PRHC RRT team member to foster learning, growth, and ongoing support (SRTs must work directly supported by a mentor).

**What You’ll Bring**:
Student Respiratory Therapist designation supported by an Ontario academic institution.

**Who You Are**:
Ability to assess, evaluate and communicate appropriate Respiratory Therapy Care Plans

Ability to conduct respiratory tests and treatments.

Ability to keep accurate records and patient charts.

Ability to assess patient response to care and to respond appropriately.

Ability to deal with conflict situations.

Ability to collaborate with others as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Ability to provide excellence service for patients & families.

Experience with critical care and emergency situations.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and use good judgement.

Good organizational skills.

Computer literate with hospital systems

Demonstrated willingness to continually upgrade skills and be active in the continual development of Respiratory Services.

Demonstrated ability to maintain a good attendance record.

Knowledge of anaesthesia equipment an asset

Previous PRHC experience considered an asset
