Paint Prepper/sandblaster

Located in Coquitlam, British Columbia. Golden Ears Painting & Sandblasting provide paint, sandblasting, body work, and graphic installation services for light and heavy machinery in industrial industries. Our team of professionals has provided services in and around BC’s Lower Mainland since 1997.

**SUMMARY**

The Sandblaster position will contribute to the team of paint shop production professionals by operating related equipment to prepare a surface for protective coating and paints to fabricate structural steel material.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Operate Sandblasting equipment to remove paint, grease, tar, rust and dirt from metal material in preparation for painting;
- Regulate pressure and composition of sandblasting equipment;
- Mask specific areas of object to protect from abrading action;
- Examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications;
- Use of required personal protective equipment;
- Ensure outputs meet schedules, safety and quality standards, as well as customer needs;
- Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day;
- Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine, controls, or control media within capabilities as required to ensure quality of production;
- Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency;
- Other duties as required.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Ability to operate sandblasting equipment in a safe and responsible manner;
- Ability to lift heavy objects of up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.), walk, and stand for long periods of time;
- Ability to work independently and with a multi-disciplinary group;
- Strong attention to detail.

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR CREDENTIALS**
- Completion of Secondary School or Grade 12 equivalent;
- Minimum 1 year of related experience with industrial paint and sandblasting preferred;
- Knowledge of manual and automatic sand and grit blasting machines, materials and processes;

**Working Environment**
- May be exposed to vibrations, smoke, noise, degreasing cleaners, fumes dust, solvent - s, oil, grease and confined spaces;
- Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions.
