FTXT-Canada is seeking a **Facilities and Equipment Manager** to play a key in the management and planning of our facilities and lab operations. You will handle any renovations, refurbishments, and office updates to ensure everything runs smoothly and according to rules and regulations. You are also responsible for maintenance and upkeep of buildings to adhere to health and safety standards and legal requirements. You will also lead the planning for future facility needs, identify and execute on obtaining new space and configure our space to meet ongoing needs. You will oversee the installation of all new equipment and ensure that our equipment is maintained at an operational level by creating and maintaining an equipment preventative maintenance system.
As the Facilities and Equipment Manager, you will proactively develop strong relationships with key internal stakeholders in R&D, technology development, and supply chain to ensure our facilities can support our mission to develop advanced fuel cell technology.
**What You’ll Do**
- As part of the operations team you will assist in planning for future expansion needs and help identify potential new spaces and sites. This will include gaining an in depth understanding of operational requirements and developing a facility plan to meet these needs.
- Establish and maintain a system documenting all equipment and its preventative maintenance and calibration schedules.
- Perform planned and corrective maintenance and calibration of all lab equipment and limited facility infrastructure. These areas include the office, research labs, rapid prototyping lines, and hydrgoen safe fuel cell testingh facilities.
- Schedule maintenance activities with the area and equipment owners. Working closely with cross-functional team to coordinate maintenance events such as resource planning, equipment upgrade and modifications, and preventative maintenance.
- Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
- Lead and support any expansion or reconfiguration projects including any equipment installations.
- Maintain a functional lab supply and inventory management system partnering with our supply chain team to ensure we always have appropriate lab inventory levels.
- Establish safety precautions and regulations in all areas where duties are performed.
- Report all safety hazards and potential unsafe working conditions.
- Prioritize workload to maintain a compliant and safe work environment.
- Understand and comply with of all current corporate policies and procedures.
- Partner with external Safety and Health Consultants to ensure that facilities are following all regulatory requirements.
- Support the day-to-day health and safety requirements in the facility by identifying risk areas, suggest and implement solutions to minimize risks.
- Support the Health and Safety policy and program implementation and the writing of work safety instructions; conduct training to ensure all employees are up to date on required safe work practices.
- Ensure employees are up to date on their health and safety training and ensure corresponding documents and tracking.
- Manage third party portals as it pertains to all EH&S reporting requirements.
- Be a certified member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and take the lead on ensuring the success of the committee.
- Ensure a safe workspace by immediately identifying and arranging for correction of workplace facility and housekeeping issues.
- Liaise with the cross-functional leadership team to ensure employees are following safety regulations and guidelines and company policies and procedures related to workplace safety on each facility.
**Who You Are**
- **Education**: Technical certification or bachelor’s degree in engineering or science.
- **Required Experience**: Experience managing onsite facility and lab operations. Experience in maintaining equipment in a fuel cell R&D enviroment is strongly preferred.
