The **Emergency Department/Inpatient Unit Nurse Clinical Lead** will support Health PEI’s values and goals in the delivery of patient centered care. This position, as a key member of the healthcare team, oversees the plan of care for patients and families and monitors/facilitates the flow of patients. The incumbent works with the entire multi-disciplinary team to ensure care is integrated; person/ family centered, based on best practice and is effective and efficient. This position reports to the Director of Clinical Services.
**Duties will include but are not limited to**:
- Ensuring that all functions support the Nursing Department activities in terms of Infection Control, utilization of resources, ordering supplies, monitoring and investigating incidents in the Provincial Safety Management System (PSMS).
- Planning and implementing staff meetings in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services.
- Developing and implementing in-service training sessions to maintain appropriate standards of practice, policies, and procedures for the effective delivery of safe, quality nursing.
- Providing direct care and may be required to work evenings/weekends to support operational needs that arise.
- Responsible for patient assignment and assists with the filling of shifts when required.
- Orientating new staff or providing a delegate to the total patient care delivery system, documentation, nursing standards of practice, unit-based quality improvement activities, and hospital policies/procedures.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures and acting as a change agent to assist staff with new programs or responsibilities.
- Collaborating with the Director of Clinical Services in problem solving related to clinical practice issues.
- Provides support, encouragement and constructive feedback to staff and evaluates staff performance annually.
- Performing other related duties as required.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Successful completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in nursing and currently enrolled in or in the process of enrolling in a BN degree program will be considered.
- Active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island.
- Considerable recent experience in acute care.
- Strong communication skills along with demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships and partnerships with staff, patients, families and interdisciplinary health care providers.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, initiative and innovation in clinical practice by enhancing clinical competency.
- Possess excellent critical thinking, decision making, and conflict resolution skills.
- ACLS is required or certification will be obtained within one year.
- Have good previous work and attendance record.
- Administrative or supervisory experience in an acute care setting or experience in delivery of educational programs would be considered and asset.
- Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.

**Salary Range**: $39.52 - $49.37 per hour (Level 17)
**Bi-Weekly Hours**: 75.0 Hours Bi-Weekly / Rotating 7.5 hr. and 11.25 hr. Shifts
