BSS is seeking an innovative person who has a journalism and/or communications background with the confidence and creativity to write articles on compelling and important topics for our school. Check out some of our projects here.

The Content Writer is an experienced storyteller with strong writing and editing skills. You will play a pivotal role in crafting and shaping stories in our voice. You will be responsible for creating exceptional written content across various channels, demonstrating exceptional writing skills and a deep understanding of storytelling techniques. You will create content that aligns to the strategic objectives of the school, promote its vision, mission and values and uphold its brand standards.

Specific Accountabilities

Reporting & Writing:
- Produces and edits high-quality written content for a wide range of channels and materials, including but not limited to articles, blog posts, social media captions and website copy- Develops creative and compelling narratives that align with our brand voice and resonate with the target audience- Acts as assistant editor to the Alumnae magazine- Gathers information, conducts interviews, writes and edits stories for print, Web and mobile audiences while tailoring content to meet the varying needs of those platforms- Edits and proofreads content to ensure clarity, grammar and adherence to brand guidelines- Monitors and upholds the BSS brand and communications standards, editing and proofing all materials for quality control and provides guidance, support and consultation to other departments on strategic communications, branding and project management

Project Management:
- Prioritizes and manages school-wide support requests, liaising with other departments to confirm and clarify goals and deliverables- Project manages the development of marketing materials for Advancement and Student Recruiting events, including strategic development, design (either in-house or with external designers), execution, metrics gathering and post evaluation

General:- Collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure a cohesive and impactful content experience- Embeds diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging into all processes- Commits to the Staff Growth and Evaluation Program- Participates in professional learning and growth

**Skills, Experience and Attributes**:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or Communications or a related field- Proven experience as a writer with a strong portfolio showcasing a variety of written work- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with an eye for detail and accuracy- A background in journalism, content creation, or corporate communications is an asset- Strong research and interview skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into engaging content- Highly collaborative and team player- Experience, preferably in a not-for-profit, agency and/or education setting- Project management expertise, ability to prioritize and meet tight timelines- Professional manner, customer-service orientation and comfortable with fast-paced environment- Positive, creative, collaborative and organized- Ability to manage changing priorities, concurrent projects and demanding deadlines- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends during the school year- Commitment to and passion for the vision, mission and values of the school- Culturally competent with a positive attitude toward cultural uniqueness and a readiness to accept and respect others- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment- A growth mindset of continuous improvement and learning- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
