Mount Pleasant Cemetery is hiring for two Conservation and Restoration Technicians

Responsibilities/

**Required Skills**:
The two young people employed as conservation and restoration technicians will be responsible for preserving a variety of the cemetery’s historic monuments for future generations. The youth employed for these positions will be trained to restore monuments using best practices and material compatible with historic stone (such as D/2 Biological Solution).

Technicians will work in a pair to both ensure their safety on the job and allow them to complete larger scale restorations. Technicians will be required to record and catalogue the specific restorations they perform on each monument. Technicians will also be responsible for coordinating with the history team to map the exact location of monuments to keep them consistent with the cemetery’s other records.

The technicians will also have the opportunity to develop their research skills by pursuing personal research interests based on their conservation work in the form of writing for our history blog. They will work with the history team to research the cultural and historical contexts of each monument and the person it memorializes.

A background in architecture, geology, archaeology, construction or similar field is an asset.

Student or recent graduate preferred.

This position will take place on site with day trips to third party archives (303 Riverside Dr, London, ON N6H 1G2).
