Social Worker, Anxiety and Mood

Ontario Shores is currently seeking a Social Worker, reporting to the Manager of ICAP. Primary responsibilities will be to the Anxiety and Mood and Complex General Psychiatry Clinics. The Social Worker will possess sound knowledge of clinical social work in the area of mental health and addiction issues and in particular in the delivery of services using CBT and IPT. Responsibilities include: psychosocial assessments; individual, group and family/couple therapy; clinic work, liaison with community social agencies; active involvement as a member of a multidisciplinary team and planning to meet the recovery needs of the discharging client.
- Qualifications Required and Preferred- An MSW is required.
- Completion of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) training preferred
- Certification or current enrollment in Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) preferred
- Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing
- Current CPR-HCP is required
- Demonstrated knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery
- 3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service preferred
- Application of and experience with evidence-based manualized treatment modalities, specifically CBT and IPT
- Demonstrated knowledge of the OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the College
- Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required
- Knowledge and experience of the challenges involved in community reintegration of short and longer stay psychiatric inpatients
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Thorough knowledge of evidence based social work treatment methods applied in mental health settings/community
- Demonstrated competence in individual, group and family therapy and crisis intervention skills
- Knowledge of psychotherapy in a clinic format is essential
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills
- The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the position
- Variable hours may be required due to patient demand
