**PSA Halifax **is recruiting for a Crane Superintendent.
**Purpose**:
The Crane Superintendent will be responsible to ensure the on-site implementation and conformance of crane activities and maintenance at PSA Halifax. The position will focus primarily on preventive & corrective maintenance practices, but also develop predictive and condition-based maintenance for the areas of responsibility. All work will be done in compliance with PSA Halifax Safety program. The position will ensure all trade work is done to applicable industry specifications, codes and standards. The Crane Superintendent assigns work, directs and supervises a complement of unionized trade personnel on a daily basis on terminal equipment thus ensuring they are maintained in good safe working condition to meet the requirements of Terminal/Vessel operations in a cost-effective manner.

**Crane Superintendent Deliverables**:
Deliverables include the following duties, which may be altered, removed or added as the business dictates:
- Plans work appropriately with an effort to maintain or improve production schedules, while ensuring quality and cost effectiveness.
- Ensures all preventive/corrective maintenance is implemented on each yard and quay equipment, and further develops predictive and condition-based maintenance for the same.
- Maintains a personal and professional commitment to sustainability, safety and maintaining a respectful workplace.
- Collects and reports data for all maintenance and repair activities.
- Promotes the use of processes, procedures and technology to enhance operational performance and efficiency. Periodically reviews and improve the standard operating procedures SOPs. Improves communication and engagement with ILA 1825 labour and oversees the trainings required for new technologies.
- Responsible for ensuring the safe and successful execution of appropriate trade activities, by providing a focus on safety, quality, cost and schedules.
- Prepares and monitors the Budget for STS and RTG maintenance and projects.
- Ensures appropriate data and spares inventory records are kept to monitor rates, costs, schedules and availability of materials.
- Encourages and leads the continuous improvement in all work-related activities.
- Ensures Risk Management in quality, safety, sustainability, and human resources.
- Ensures that proper safety, security, and environmental procedures are in place and being implemented.
**Qualifications**:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, along with 15+ years’ experience of related Container Terminal industry work experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role in heavy duty industry.
- Possess good labour relations skills and have a sound understanding of the ILA local 1825 collective agreement.
- Able to use technology to maximize efficiencies and learn upgrades, programs quickly.
- Required certifications: Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional, Lean Six Sigma
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, persuasion skills, public speaking, negotiating skills; strong oral and written communicating skills; able to communicate with all levels of staff and management
**Work Environment**:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:
- Working in office facility with air conditioning
- Monitoring and visiting terminal and vessel operations on occasion, with exposure to mixed weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, wind, rain, sleet, snow.
- Working in areas where noise is moderate.
- Travel internationally and domestic is required.
- Working in a 24/7 operation environment.
