**JUNIOR ARCHAEOLOGIST**
**Stó:lō Service Agency (SSA**) requires the services of a qualified **Junior Archaeologist** to fill a Full-Time Position with the Stó:lō Research & Resource Management Centre (SRRMC). The **Junior Archaeologist**coordinates with the Archaeologists and Project Archaeologists to complete field work preparation and support tasks for archaeological projects within S’olh Téméxw - Stó:lō Traditional Territory. These may include, but are not limited to equipment maintenance, completion of safety paperwork, participation in safety meetings and review of meeting minutes. The Junior Archaeologist will help analyze, catalogue, and curate artifacts in our repository and conduct.
This position reports to the Heritage Stewardship and Archaeology Manager and will work out of the Chilliwack office.
**QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS**:
- Must have a minimum bachelor’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology (with a focus in Archaeology).
- Must have participated in a field school or have field experience.
- Strong organizational skills and a team player with a strong background and demonstrated skills in communications.
- Familiarity and understanding of Stó:lō and/or other First Nations’ culture, traditions and history with a commitment to learning more about Stó:lō culture and history is essential.
- Knowledge of federal, provincial, and local governance policies/legislation related to heritage and First Nations.
- Knowledge of the Stó:lō Heritage Policy.
- Excellent physical health and physically fit for surveying in rough terrain, shovel testing, and excavation.
- Ability to work on a variety of Windows and Apple programs and devices.
- Ability to work under pressure and in an effective manner.
- Must be able to work effectively while sharing office space.
- Ability to maintain a healthy working relationship with staff, community representatives/members and representatives of other organizations.
- Must maintain the confidentiality guidelines of all records, materials and communications concerning clients, staff and SSA.
- Drug and alcohol testing required.
- Familiarity with GIS is an asset.
- Experience with off-road vehicles would be an asset.
- Proof of education documentation.
- Must possess and maintain a full and valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License.
- Must successfully pass the required pre-employment Criminal records Check.
**SALARY RANGE**: $24.00 - $27.00/hour dependent upon qualifications and experience
**TYPE OF POSITION**: Full-Time position, with a 3-month probationary period and planned performance evaluations.
