**Location: Thunder Bay, ON**

**Shifts: Days (Evenings and weekends as required)**

**Rate of Pay: $39.50 - $49.37 per hour**

Reporting to the Director of Care, with a matrix reporting relationship with the Manager of Infection Prevention and Control, the Infection Prevention & Control Practitioner is responsible to act as a resource for infection prevention and control, participate in risk management and safety, provide education to health care providers and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, guidelines and standards. Additional responsibilities include linking with external agencies to participate in regional and community-wide infection prevention and control activities.

**Qualifications**:
**_Education/Experience:_**
- Degree-educated Registered Nurse with current unrestricted certificate of registration with the Ontario College of Nurses, or relevant post-secondary degree from an accredited institution

OR
- Currently certified in infection control from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology Inc.
- Demonstrated interest in infection prevention and control, including the commitment to ongoing IPAC education and further eligible to obtain certification in infection control, if not currently certified
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant clinical experience, including long-term care
- A working knowledge of infection prevention and control, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation and standards

- Education/ training skills
- Excellent organizational skills and verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated computer proficiency with Novell, MED e-Care and MS Office, including Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint

**_Assets:_**
- Completion or currently enrolled in a recognized Infection Prevention and Control program
- Certification in infection control from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc.
- Knowledge of the Long-term Care Act

**CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**
- Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
