We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized **Purchasing Assistant** to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Inventory Control Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the efficient procurement of products and merchandise. Your focus will be on maintaining accurate pricing, overseeing special-order processes, and building strong supplier relationships to support our business objectives.

**What you will be doing**

**1. Product Knowledge and Supplier Relations**:

- Develop a deep understanding of our product lines.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors and supplier representatives.
- Monitor stock levels to ensure timely receipt of goods.

**2. Product Purchasing and Coordination**:

- Create, verify, and maintain purchase order documentation.
- Negotiate product pricing and manage order quantities to minimize costs.
- Expedite shipments and confirm estimated delivery dates (ETAs).
- Oversee special-order purchases, providing regular updates to the relevant salesperson or manager.

**3. Pricing and Inventory Management**:

- Maintain and update pricing lists and guides.
- Resolve discrepancies between purchase orders and invoiced prices.
- Follow up on backordered products, ensuring timely resolutions.

**4. Reporting and Analysis**:

- Prepare and present reports for management and ownership.
- Identify trends or issues in purchasing processes and recommend improvements.

**To be successful in this role, you ideally have**
- Experience in purchasing or procurement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in computer systems and inventory management software.
- Team-oriented with a commitment to meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
