**Your Opportunity**:
The Laboratory Assistant provides front-line support with standard and specialized procedures for Bacteriology and Environmental Waters for the Public Health Laboratory. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will perform a variety of laboratory functions which includes but is not limited to: operating, cleaning, and maintaining technical equipment; participating in quality control and quality assurance activities and ensuring completion of required documentation; performs essential accessioning duties such as entering and checking sample demographic information in the Laboratory Information System, filing worksheets and requisitions, answers phone calls, handles enquiries from clients to clarify test requests for specimen processing and communicates report/sample information. You will help your team process a high volume of samples that are received for environmental testing and bacteriological testing.

You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
