**PROGRAM**

REACH is a research project focused on the development and delivery of an online curriculum targeted toward newcomer mothers with young children. The goal of REACH is to improve English language skills, increase knowledge of life in Canada, facilitate access to settlement services, and increase participation in communities and social networks.

**DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Deliver ESL instruction under the MOSAIC/ Achev curriculum guidelines
- Create a welcoming and encouraging classroom environment both in person and online as appropriate
- Maintain student attendance records
- Plan for class field trips, guest speakers, and special events
- Assess, evaluate and provide feedback to students using Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) indicators and Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA)
- Implement, assess, and give feedback on REACH curriculum
- Facilitate family learning sessions
- This position is responsible for delivery and facilitation of an online-learning ESL class with weekly in-person review sessions.

**POSITION FUNCTION**

Part-time - 17.5 hrs per week including Saturday Virtual Session (see below)

Saturday AM shift - in-person review session - This will be held virtually

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Recognized undergraduate degree and a TESL Canada recognized TESL certificate or a clearly documented equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience teaching adult ESL, particularly using student-centered, participatory methods. Community-based, settlement and Literacy ESL experience an asset.
- CLB Bootcamp certificate or equivalent training required. Working knowledge of the CLBs (Canadian Language Benchmarks) and PBLA (Portfolio Based Language Assessment) is an asset.
- Experience facilitating online learning in Moodle platform.
- Highly organized, tactful, versatile, and flexible with excellent communication skills; sensitive to and understanding of the needs of adult immigrant learners; attitudes and values in keeping with the goals and philosophies of MOSAIC/ Achev.
- Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required
