Driver and Donation Ambassador

**Position Summary**:
The Driver and Donation Ambassador is a vital position in the ReStore, responsible for attainment of inventory from a variety of retail and residential donors, while providing an outstanding donor experience.
Donations are critical to the overall success of the ReStore, and this individual will spend the majority of their time coordinating and driving one of Habitat Hamilton’s cube trucks to pick up donated merchandise. The remaining time will be spent assisting with inventory management and processing within the ReStore, and maintaining affiliate assets.

Habitat Hamilton strengthens its mission with the support of the ReStore, a social enterprise and home improvement warehouse that offers new and used affordable merchandise to the general public. Revenues generated by the Hamilton ReStore fund all administrative and operational costs at Habitat Hamilton. This means that 100% of donated funds to Habitat Hamilton directly support its build program.
**Job Purpose**:
Reporting to ReStore management, in partnership with the Driver’s Assistant, volunteers, and ReStore staff, this role is responsible of the pickup of quality products for sale within the ReStore, supporting the timely and effective merchandising of those products on the ReStore floor, and the maintenance of vehicles and facilities as required.
**Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Donation Pick Up_
- Pick up donated products by driving Habitat vehicles to and from commercial and residential locations
- As the face of Habitat Hamilton in the field, establish and maintain good relationships with all donors
- Safely load and unload trucks with the support of ReStore staff and volunteers
- Partner with the Donation Coordinator to efficiently plan routes and schedule pick up times with donors
- Accurately complete documentation to support the charitable tax receipting process
- Inventory Processing_
- Handle product with forklifts and other tools as required, maintaining product quality
- Clean, test, repackage, refurbish and repair donated items
- Participate in pricing of products, prior to movement on the sales floor
- Assist in customer service on the floor as required
- Facilities Maintenance_
- Maintain Habitat vehicles in a clean and working condition, including coordination of servicing
- Maintain vehicle logs as per Ministry guidelines
- Report on vehicle usage, status, maintenance and repairs
- Assist in keeping the receiving bay organized, neat and moving product to floor
- Assist in maintaining the outdoor yard in a tidy manner
- Transport metals for recycling, and refuse to the waste transfer station
- Safety_

- Remedy or report any safety hazard to management
- Ensure compliance to all safety policies and standard operating procedures

- Provide direction to volunteers in support of the work of the ReStore, for a friendly engaging experience

**Qualifications**:
- Possess a valid G driver’s license, with a clean driving record
- Three years heavy truck experience
- Post-secondary education or equivalent
- Ability to lift regularly and repeatedly, at times heavy lifting
- Friendly disposition
- General knowledge of home improvement items
- Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with donors, volunteers, and staff
- Sound judgment, and strong prioritization and time management skills
- Self-starter, with a high energy and a strong independent work ethic
- Computer literate
- Experience working in a volunteer supported organization
- Safety conscious
