Qualifications:
**Essential**:
- Extensive experience performing administrative duties in a court, legal or related environment.
- Knowledge of court policies, processes and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet workload demands.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with legal professionals, self-represented litigants as well as internal and external stakeholders using diplomacy and tact.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute toward a respectful workplace.
- Ability to work effectively under mínimal supervision.
- Excellent English verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate legal principles in plain language.
- Excellent English written communication skills.
**Desired**:
- Experience with Court of Appeal documents (e.g. notice of appeal and factums) or other legal documents/prescribed forms used by other levels of Court or Administrative Tribunals.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills using sound judgment.
**Duties**:
A Deputy Registrar in the Court of Appeal reviews and processes documents in accordance with the Court Rules, various federal and provincial Statutes, Acts and Regulations, both electronically and in hard copy. Register documents and enters pertinent information on the Court Registry System and Court of Appeal Rota. Adapts to changing technology. Coordinates motion hearings with legal counsel and judges. Attends court to clerk and monitor court proceedings. Processes Reasons for Judgment, Certificates of Decision and Bills of Costs. Authenticates court orders and certifies court documents. Processes orders for judicial interim release, interviews sureties and prepares documentation to authorize the release of a person in custody.
