Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our daycare team to assist with meal preparation and food handling tasks. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being and development of children in a nurturing environment.

**Duties**:

- Plan the center’s nutritious weekly menu and provide menu information to parents and other teachers.
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks following provided menus and food safety guidelines
- Organize, clean up and sanitize the kitchen after each meal (i.e. dishes, counter tops, equipment, floor, garbage etc.); ensure that the cleaning schedules are followed (Daily).
- Collaborate with daycare staff to ensure dietary needs and restrictions are met
- Monitor food inventory and submit orders as needed.
- Order and purchase all groceries to implement the planned menus, in consideration of the approved food budget and in consultation with the Manager.
- Meet with Health Inspector as required to ensure kitchen and practices are in compliance with health code.
- Ensure that meals are served in appropriate portion sizes and are presented in an appealing and appetizing manner.

Qualifications:

- Prior experience in meal preparation, preferably in a daycare, restaurant, or food service setting.
- Culinary degree or certification from a recognized culinary institute is a plus.
- Valid Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent certificate
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong communication skills when interacting with children and staff
- Understanding of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment operation
- Knowledge of child nutrition, food safety standards, and dietary guidelines.
- Valid driver's license

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
