In fulfilling its responsibility to assist management and the Audit Committee in the effective discharge of their responsibilities, Internal Audit is committed to providing independent, objective and timely service to its customers, as well as responding to their request for advisory services, and adding value to and improving the University’s operations. Internal Audit helps the University accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. **Responsibilities**: The Internal Auditor's regular course of work will also include providing support to other internal audit activities, including developing and using data analytics software, and evaluating the adequacy, effectiveness, and efficiency of controls and identifying recommendations for improvements in accordance with Western University policies, procedures and professional auditing standards. The Internal Auditor will also provide expertise and reporting for senior University leaders to fulfill their governance mandates and will help to increase awareness of compliance requirements and best practices. **Qualifications**: - Education: - Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems or related area - Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) is preferred - Experience: - 5 years’ experience performing or supporting Information System reviews - Experience auditing complex systems and processes - Experience using data analytics software is preferred - Knowledge/Experience working with IT controls frameworks would be an asset - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Demonstrates teamwork, collaboration, a positive attitude and a high level of ethics - Experience working with and auditing Information Systems - Knowledge and skills pertaining to IT security, databases, operating systems, programming, and electronic commerce - Knowledge of standards for the professional practice of Information Systems auditing such as Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) - Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel - Experience performing Data Analytics using Data Analytics software - Knowledge of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) - Experience working with and auditing PeopleSoft would be an asset - Auditing and project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure - Ability to analyze difficult situations and make recommendations to mitigate risk - Ability to exercise professionalism, including honesty, objectivity and ethical judgment - Communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization - Problem solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities - Ensures information and data involved in audits, investigations, and special projects are protected at all time - Strong cognitive skills including quantitative, qualitative, and financial (statistical) analysis **Background Checks**: Please note, successful applicants will be required to complete a credit check satisfactory to the employer. **Western Values Diversity**: **Please Note**: **Effective September 7, 2021, all employees and visitors to campus are required to comply with Western's **COVID-19 Vaccination Policy**.** We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
