Community Support Worker Evenings and Weekends

A Relief Community Support Worker will be orientated and cross trained with several of our programs. They will provide support to the individuals in our programs with their daily routines (cooking, cleaning, hygiene), attending appointments, day programs, and recreation, medication administration etc. This position will be a mix of scheduled coverage and call in coverage as needed by the programs. This can include morning shifts, afternoon shifts, or over night shifts that range from 8-12 hours.
Reliable transportation that can be used to transport our individuals is an asset, but is not required.
The Community Support Worker (CSW) position is the front-line position working with a team for persons with complex needs. The CSWs are part of a team that ensures the individual has a high quality of life in areas including daily living, recreation and leisure, and community inclusion.
We are currently seeking a **Casual Relief Worker** staff to join our PDD Team
You must be resilient, calm, have good boundaries, and dedicated to achieve success with this position.
- **In your role you will**:_
- Assisting with maintaining a good home environment for the person-served and staff
- Prepping food, Researching activities, cleaning
- Connect with and develop helping relationships with individuals with complex and challenging behaviours.
- Work effectively as a team with the individual and their support team to help achieve their goals
- Evaluating the needs of clients; Act as an advocate for individuals when needed
- Completion of daily documentation
- Provide support and assisting clients in the development of healthy life and social skills
- Participate in on-going program development
- **Education**:_
- College or University Diploma prefered, However relevant experience is valued and considered an asset (competency-based hire)
- **Mandatory**_ _**Training & Clearances to be provided before starting**:_
- Criminal record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (within the last 6 months)
- Intervention Record Check (within the last 6 months)
- Standard First Aid with CPR (min. Level C)
- *Strong English reading/writing/speaking skills are required
- **Preferred (primarily for day/evening staff)**:_
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Driver’s Abstract (within the last 6 months)
- Auto Insurance & Registration
- **Other Training **_(*Available from Family Connections Inc. _**At No Cost**_ _to the employee)_
- Medical Administration (necessary before starting)
- Suicide Awareness or Suicide Intervention training
- Cultural Awareness training/Indigenous Training
- *Abuse Protocols
- Restrictive Procedures

- **Required Experience**:_
- We are looking for someone who is dedicated, patient, kind, trustworthy, mature, caring, and a good communicator and listener.
- Directly supporting individuals with disabilities, complex, and challenging behaviours
- Experience working in a residential and group home setting is an asset
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Casual
**Salary**: $16.00-$20.00 per hour
