Laboratory Operator I

What you'll do:
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills while managing multiple demands.- Carry out all analysis/test procedures required for process control, shipping samples, environmental samples, mine samples, basic water analysis and other samples as required.- Use lab computer system to update and maintain daily analysis data files.- Operate analysis equipment and perform routine calibrations and adjustments.- Calibrate basic analysis equipment.- Prepare routine standard solutions.- Assist in adapting present lab procedures to fit new requirements as required.- Maintain all required laboratory statistics and records.-
- Recognize and identify discrepancies in analysis and procedures, and resolve these if appropriate.- Work day, afternoon and night shift as required or on a rotating basis.- Work effectively with a minimum amount of supervision in the Laboratory at K1 and K2.- Diligently adhere to all relevant legal environmental requirements.- Diligently ensure that all relevant OH&S requirements and in-house safety regulations are complied with.

What you'll need:
- Post secondary education in a chemistry related field, preferably completed two years Industrial Laboratory Technologist Course from a recognized institution.- Preferably a minimum of one year related laboratory experience.- Understanding of refinery process sample terminology.- Working knowledge of at least one computer system (DOS, WINDOWS).- Understanding of basic instrumental methods of analysis including Atomic Absorption, Automatic Titrators, Flame Photometry, pH meters, UV/Visible Spectrophotometer, X-RAY Fluorescence, etc.
