**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Responsible to provide technical expertise; organize, deliver and administer environmental, health and safety training and; ensures regulatory compliance for occupational health and safety

**Qualifications**:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

- Knowledge of research safety methods, practices, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of governing legislation by-laws and regulations such as building codes, transportation of dangerous goods, hazardous waste, biological and radiological licencing and occupational health and safety
- Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions would be an asset
- Knowledge of emergency response protocols and procedures, including for hazardous materials.
- Working knowledge of office productivity software/databases, discipline-specific software, enterprise software such as banner, technology devices and internet competency
- Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity in a business context

**Education and Experience**:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering or risk related field.
- Professional designations/certifications for the area of oversight (CRSP, CRST, RSO, RBSO, LSO, CIH or CHSC) considered an asset.
- Minimum of four years of previous experience in occupation health and safety
