**Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA)**:

**Job Duties**
- The instructor will be responsible for program delivery, student management and support
primarily in the field of forestry. Instructors must have excellent field skills, recent/relevant field
experience, strong interpersonal skills, experience and/or aptitude for delivering post secondary
technical programming, and the ability to work as a member of collegial working group of professional natural resource management instructors.
1. Preparing and delivering lessons, lectures, and demonstrations.
2. Supervising students in classroom and laboratory.
3. Evaluating students using examination, assignments, observations of field skills and
recording progress.
4. Selecting, designing, updating and constructing training aids.
5. Counselling students with respect to educational and employment opportunities.
6. Attend meetings, seminars, workshops, etc. to keep current with industry and educational
requirements.
7. Assist in/arrange for equipment maintenance and repair.
8. Liaison with educational partners and industry.
9. Application of resource management principles and practices to First Nation and Métis
programming initiatives.
- QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

**Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)**
- 1. Technical diploma or university degree in Biology, Environmental Science or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Two years of recent/relevant experience in the resource management sector:
- forest harvesting methods, transportation systems, and silviculture practices.
- mapping systems and compassing, map interpretation, and measurements.
- Global Positioning Systems (GPS) advanced data collection techniques.
- knowledge of soils, parent material, and corresponding vegetation within the integrated context of ecological land classification.
- knowledge of forest road planning, mapping, and road development.
- knowledge of tree volume calculations for harvest and road construction.
- knowledge of forest harvest system
- maintaining and operating chainsaws in a safe manner.
