15 Wing, headquartered in Moose Jaw, is the centre of RCAF aircrew training and is comprised of 2 Canadian Forces Flying Training School (CFFTS) and 431 Air Demonstration Squadron (CF Snowbirds) both located in Moose Jaw, SK. The Wing is the principal site of the NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC). 15 Wing is responsible for three different aircraft platforms that include: CT-156 Harvard II, CT-155 Hawk, CT-114 Tutor, and any visiting aircraft.
You will be part of a team that works closely with the military customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality and efficient VFR air traffic services to DND, at Canada’s Most Notorious Military Airport. Serco Canada Inc. is looking for an Airside Services Superintendent (Airfield Supervisor) in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The successful individual will be responsible to plan, organize and direct front-line employees on daily/weekly activities of the heavy equipment department to meet airport service delivery objectives. Supervises fuel farm operations and staff. Supervises the wildlife control program and staff. Inspects the airfield for runway status, surface conditions and to detect infrastructure issues to determine level of airfield maintenance required. Inspect domestic areas of the airport to determine levels of domestic maintenance required.
**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and procedures, and co-ordinates these activities with other work units.
- Maintain records on Employees, such as Training, Leave and Time sheets.
- Ensure Lead HEO position is always staffed for each shift.
- Prepares and submits progress and other reports.
- Requisitions supplies and materials and does follow-ups for overdue items.
- Helps to conduct interviews when hiring new staff.
- Responds to emergencies as required in daily operations.
- Resolve work related problems and recommend measures to improve productivity.
- Attends meetings with superiors on equipment status, shop operations, safety and planning schedules.
- Train or arrange training for workers in job related duties and company policies.
- Assists in the design and implementation of SNIC Plan.
- Assists in preparing estimates for Grounds Maintenance, Airfield surfaces, Asphalt and Gravel roadways.
- Operate heavy equipment as required to maintain personal skills and experience.
- Provides training and mentoring to heavy equipment operators to ensure team skills grow and improve.
- To provide the best and most courteous service possible at all times to the customer.
- Required to supervise Roads and Grounds Operatives when assigned to Heavy Equipment Section.
- Perform hands on work in support of section service delivery objectives.
- Responsible for performance management of subordinate employees, including authority to initiate corrective action in line with HR approval model.
- Ensure all assigned deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on time.
- Ensure that standards for the accomplishment of short-term priorities are clearly articulated to staff and that resources are made available to achieve the standard.
- Communicate key business objectives to front-line staff.
- Visibly demonstrate Serco Values and work practices and ensure that all staff across the organization are practicing these Values daily.
- When required, assist with airside projects. Duties include but not limited to:
- Assists the project manager to ensure airside projects stay on track meeting budget, timelines, labour, and materials projections.
- Act as main point of contact for all customer and Serco inquiries with regards to airside operations and domestic SNIC and groundskeeping.
- Responsible to work with other Serco staff/management to coordinate the work between departments to complete airside project’s overall goal, includes the scheduling of staff and equipment.
- Proactively and frequently communicate with customer and applicable Serco departments re project status/any variation in originally projected scope/timeline/budget as well as how customer mandated changes impact original deliverable.
- Collaborates to ensure all work orders associated with airside projects are accurate and closed in a timely manner and forwarded for billing and payment.
