**Job Summary**
The mandate of the Kings Historical Society is to preserve and promote the cultural and natural history of Kings County for present and future generations and works toward mandate fulfillment through the operation of the Kings County Museum. The Kings County Museum welcomes hundreds of visitors every year, hosts exhibitions on local history, offers free programming for the community, and provides a space for dynamic and culturally diverse conversation. The Kings County Museum also maintains a collection of over 25,000 artifacts that are important and representative of the history of the area.

**Responsibilities**
- Conduct thorough research to gather relevant information about genealogy and local history
- Answer historical inquiries from visitors and community members
- Assist in organizing archival documents and files
- Compile information and write research reports
- Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines are met and objectives are achieved
- Update historical records, especially genealogy
- Upload information to our digital database
- Maintain organized records of all research activities
- Participate in meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and solutions
- Assist with opening and closing procedures of the museum
- Assist with general museum maintenance

**Experience**
- Working on a degree or diploma in a relevant field such as museum studies, history, social sciences, humanities, etc. preferred
- Experience doing archival research of any kind is highly desirable
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in data collection and reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and presentation of findings
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Previous experience in a research setting or laboratory environment is an advantage but not mandatory

**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 14 weeks

Pay: $15.20 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
