Video Editor for Youtube Channel

**Job Overview** We are looking for a highly talented and ambitious video editor + motion designer who is able to produce high quality explainer videos and mini-documentaries about business, technology, science, and geopolitics similar to Cleo Abram, John Coogan, Jake Tran, and Johnny Harris. **Duties** - Edit 1-40 minute explainer videos or mini-documentaries from scripts and voiceovers (~10-20mins is average) - Create visually engaging sequences with B-roll, graphics, animation, and motion design - Match the pacing, tone, and audio clarity of top-tier YouTube channels - Use music and sound/audio effects to captivate the viewer - Help craft eye catching thumbnails - Collaborate on hooks, retention optimization and potentially with other team members or contractors to understand project requirements and deliverables - Maintain organized project files and archives for easy access and future use **Experience** - We don't care about your degree or professional experience... we care about your portfolio of work showcasing your skillset - Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or CapCut - Can replicate the visual storytelling style of channels like Cleo Abram, John Coogan, Jake Tran, or Johnny Harris - Are obsessed with pacing, story arcs, and making ideas visually understandable - Know how to use stock footage, animation, and motion graphics to elevate production quality - Want to grow long-term with a creator brand that will scale into a media company - Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail **Bonus Points If You**: - Understand YouTube retention analytics and storytelling for audience growth - Have experience editing Cleo Abram, John Coogan, Jake Tran, or Johnny Harris style videos - Can occasionally assist with scriptwriting and storyboarding - Are familiar with or willing to learn AI video tools like Sora 2, Google Nano Banana, Google Veo 3 etc - Have a growth mindset and are interested in personal development, business, startups, technology, science and the future - Experience editing YouTube explainer or documentary content **Compensation** - Competitive project-based or hourly rate (we are flexible here but would prefer up front pricing per video to start and then if it's a long term fit, a salary + bonus depending on video and company performance) - High potential for this to be lucrative long-term work or a launchpad into your dream role at a high profile company - The opportunity to learn how to start and scale a startup in the earliest days - Apprentice with an entrepreneur that has a track record of success and has helped students get into Stanford, Harvard, Oxford, Waterloo, UofT, and young professionals get jobs at OpenAI, Neuralink, Wealthsimple etc - I will personally open up my network and give my time to help get you what you want in life - You will learn more here than anywhere else ("learning" is literally in our brand name) **How to Apply** Please include: - A short intro about yourself and your experience - Your portfolio of work that is relevant to what we're looking for - 2-3 examples of YouTube videos or edits that match the tone/style described - Your typical turnaround time for a 5-10min video vs a 20-30 minute documentary style video - Your rates (hourly and per project) **Here are the Example Channels for Reference**: If you are highly talented, hyper ambitious video editor let's talk **Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Freelance, Apprenticeship, Internship / Co-op Pay: $18.00-$40.00 per hour Expected hours: 20 - 50 per week **Benefits**: - Casual dress - Company events - Flexible schedule - Stock options Work Location: Hybrid remote in Toronto, ON (M6K)
