United Gear is seeking a person that loves to plan United Gear’s Gearbox Rebuild Planner will play a critical part in the planning, purchasing and execution of large gearbox rebuilds.
**About United Gear**
United Gear rebuilds Canada’s largest gearboxes. With over 50 years supporting transmission rebuilds in Canada's key industries we have developed acclaim for producing the highest quality work and reliability through material and gear geometry optimization. We have developed additional specialties in rebuilding and optimizing large gearboxes for the mining industry including the propel, swing and hoist on the CAT 7495 rope shovel.
**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Play a critical role in the timely delivery of gearbox rebuilds through work order planning, product coordination and detail documentation control.
- After the initiation of the work order, the Gearbox Rebuild Planner will ensure the work order package is prepared for gearbox disassembly.
- Verify and/or complete work order process in the ERP.
- During the rebuild process, ensure the shop work order package is maintained consistently with the ERP.
- During the rebuild process, ensure that the drawing package is consistent with the ERP and work order process.
- Assist in the flow from inspection report to estimate.
- Track inventory to ensure the jobs have necessary tools and parts to complete the rebuild in a timely manner.
- Work with suppliers and the Production Coordinator to ensure timely execution of work and supply of products for rebuilds.
- Order fastener kits and other components for work orders.
- Assist with shop activities such as, assisting with documentation for estimating, and documentation control.
**Qualifications and Skills**
- #1 Passion for Planning.
- 3-5 years experience in a similar role.
- Knowledgeable with metal and other material properties.
- Familiarity with industrial manufacturing methods and procedures.
- Strong work ethic and excellent communications skills in English - both verbal and written.
**Preferred Skills**
- Successful completion of a program (bachelor’s degree / technical diploma) in industrial/mechanical/manufacturing engineering.
- Proficient with ERPs, preferably Visual Manufacturing.
- Experience with Kanban systems beneficial.
- Understanding of component rebuild process.
