**Nature and Scope**
The Director, Financial Reporting is responsible for overseeing and managing SIIT's budgeting processes and financial reporting functions. This position involves coordination and management of the annual budget cycle, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial reports, and providing financial analysis that supports decision-making and long-term planning. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.
**General Accountability**
The Director, Financial Reporting will be responsible for managing the Institute's budgeting, financial analysis, and internal and external reporting functions, as well as providing financial planning, analysis, reporting and advisory services internally to the executive team and SIIT managers.
The position's primary responsibilities are to manage and direct budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and internal and external reporting functions. The incumbent will oversee the establishment of financial work plans, procedures, and reporting systems, and is responsible for supervision of the financial reporting team. The position works with highly sensitive and confidential information. The Director, Financial Reporting will balance tight deadlines and competing priorities, and the work environment requires constant monitoring, review, and approval of information to mitigate the risk of costly errors. The Director ensures that budgeting and reporting activities comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as the legal and contractual requirements. This position includes the following broad range of accountabilities:
**Specific Accountabilities**
**_ Financial Planning and Budgeting_**
- Lead the annual budgeting process, including the preparation, review, and approval of budgets
- Develop long-term financial plans and forecasts to support strategic initiatives
- Monitor budget performance and provide regular updates to senior executives and managers
- Review and prepare key metrics reports, investigate variances, and compile forecasts for the year
- Review cost variances and recommend budget adjustments as appropriate
- Investigate current and potential financial systems to ensure maximum productivity and that they meet the needs of the Institute
- Guide and assist the development and renewal of appropriate Institutional financial policies and procedures relevant to budgeting, forecasting and project tracking

- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, legislation, financial agreements, policies and reporting requirements
- Support the external audit, review and analyze results, and recommend for approval the audited financial statements
- Maintain confidentiality at all times, ensuring that information is not released unless authorized by policy, required by law, or through written consent
- Remain current on changes and new developments and techniques that will affect and/or improve systems, through ongoing training and professional development

- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making processes
- Collaborate with leaders and managers to ensure financial resources are aligned with program goals and objectives

People ManagementLeadership_**
- Lead and supervise the budgeting and reporting team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Conduct regular reviews with direct reports; ensure adherence to SIIT policies and procedures
- Assist in attracting and retaining employees through the recruitment process
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial processes are integrated and aligned with organizational goals
- Represent the organization in financial matters with external stakeholders, including funders, auditors, and regulatory bodies
- Provide support, mentorship and guidance to employees enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP)
