**WHO WE ARE**

AvaPharma is a new **independent** Canadian Compounding Pharmaceutical Facility that specializes in the formulation of innovative and customized medications for our customers. We are looking for a **PHARMACY COMPOUNDING TECHNICIAN**.

Our business is to offer high-quality compounded medications delivered to pharmacies for their patients (central-fill) as well as direct to patient.

We operate a **state-of-the-art facility **designed specifically to meet the regulatory and environmental requirements for compounded medications including non-sterile hazardous/non-hazardous preparations. Eventually, we will also include sterile preparations.

**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**

We are looking for an **experienced compounding pharmacy technician** to join our team part-time with the possibility of going full-time You will be one of the first members of our division of trained technicians who make custom medications to meet the specific needs of individual patients.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
- **Process & check prescriptions** including reading and interpreting prescriptions and entering them accurately into the computer system.
- Sign technical aspects of prescriptions as **per the approved guidelines** set forth by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Maintain knowledge of and adhere to **NAPRA’s Model Standards** of Practice for Pharmacy Technicians and any provincial regulations for Pharmacy Technician practice.
- Adhere to all relevant guidelines including the established **Standard Operating Procedures** and all applicable **regulatory requirements**.
- **Unpack** shipments and **pack** prescriptions for shipment.
- **Label **products.
- **Check and approve** final release of specialty pharmaceutical formulations prepared using appropriate specialized compounding skills, equipment, and pharmaceutical calculations in accordance with worksheets, procedures and instructions approved by a pharmacist.
- Release compounding medication **ensuring correct** components, weight, labelling, and refer to a pharmacist if problems arise.
- Any **other required responsibilities** as needed.

**YOU ARE**
- A compounding pharmacy technician with **2+ years of experience** in processing prescriptions and compounding medication.
- Knowledgeable in non-sterile **compounding and pharmaceutical calculations**.
- An **excellent** verbal and interpersonal **communicator**.
- An **excellent time manager, organizer and problem-solver** with exceptional attention to detail.
- Able to demonstrate **initiative** and the ability to **work effectively** with others and within time constraints.

Other Assets:

- Experience using **Pharmaclik Rx** for prescription processing is preffered.
- Experienced with **Precision & Analytic Balances.**:

- Knowledgeable about **Powder Containment Hood** operations.

Expected hours: 20 - 28 per week
