Role Summary:
Big Erics has a workforce throughout the Atlantic Region with warehouse locations in Dartmouth, NS, and St. John’s, NL that serve customers’ needs across North America. We are a leader in end-to-end product and service-based solutions spanning food preparation and service, food safety, facilities maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation.

Reporting directly to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Associate is responsible for ensuring that the warehouse is running safely, efficiently, and with strong attention to detail to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our customers in a timely manner. The warehouse is the nerve center of this business. There are many functions performed in the warehouse, some of which may be specialized (Picker, Replenishment/Forklift, Utility). Partnering with our sales and retail teams to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained. Utilizing the SAP system and PMX, the warehouse associate will also need to have computer skills and the ability to learn these programs.

Key Accountabilities:

- Accurately receive inbound shipments, paperwork, and matching purchase orders and ensure the product is binned in the correct location.
- Picking and preparing orders for shipment and accurately shipping outbound products.
- Ensuring that all returns are processed and dispersed to their appropriate locations.
- Maintaining high standards of safety and cleanliness.
- Loading trucks and picking up customer orders for our retail stores and for deliveries.
- Dropping skids with a reach truck when bins need to be replenished, or items are required.
- Participating in inventory counts.
- Providing support to Inside Sales Representatives and our Retail Associates.
- Ensuring proper material handling and accurate paperwork.
- Weighing, tagging, and filling out all paperwork needed to ship goods and track orders.
- Following all procedures for the handling and transportation of dangerous goods.
- Ensuring the equipment is in good working condition with regular maintenance and stored in the proper location.
- Providing superior customer service to our customers both internally and externally. Answering calls regarding customer orders.
- Operating computer system, for sales and inventory tracking.
- May assist with shipping by preparing bills of lading and other shipping documents, liaising with couriers and freight transportation providers to ensure pickup and delivery of goods.

- Assisting the shipper/receiver and Warehouse Manager as required.

Additional Accountabilities:

- Meeting all health and safety requirements
- Snow removal as required.
- Garbage removal from the warehouse
- Assist on trucks as required.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent education level
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of warehouse experience
- WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification would be an asset.
- Fall arrest training and forklift certification would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous.
- Punctual and dependable with a willingness to learn and a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Working Conditions:
This position requires the incumbent to work in a warehouse environment with a moderate level of physical effort demands. Mental stress may be experienced when responding to conflicting demands and varying departmental needs, dealing with customers, and related issues. To provide effective and efficient service, the incumbent is required to be flexible in terms of hours of work when required. Sensory attention to detail is required for inventory control and picking of products.

Work hours:
Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; located at the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Branch. There may be a need to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Pay: $16.00-$20.00 per hour
