Position Title: Rail Inspector
Location: 1150 Stevenson Rd. S., Oshawa, ON
Shift: 7:30AM to 3:30PM. Monday to Friday. Expect working overtime, weekends and holidays
Status: Full time Permanent

**Summary of Position**:
Our team is responsible for preparing Canadian National Railway (CN) rail cars for loading, driving customers finished product (Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierras) onto bi-level rail cars, and securing the vehicles for transportation. The Rail Inspector ensures that all vehicles are secured in the rail cars, closes rail car doors and places a wire seal to lock the doors for transport.
**Essential Functions, Duties and Tasks**:
- Perform audit of rail car decks, inspecting for potential repairs to be made and report findings to Operations Supervisor
- Inspect for proper deck lid height in rail cars
- Check to make sure all vehicles are properly secured in the rail cars
- Report repairs completed to secure the vehicle on the rail cars
- Close all rail car doors
- Seal all rail car doors
- Complete weekly audit reports
- Perform all Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) responsibilities
- Remove defective bridge plates from service
- Ensure yard and rail quality standards are maintained
- Perform other duties as assigned
**Working Conditions**:Work conducted outside in all types of weather, including extreme weather conditions. Working at a fast pace
**This is a physically demanding position, which requires you to**:
- Lift, carry, push and pull up to 50lbs
- Climbing / working at a height of 15 ft, in/out of rail cars via ladder
- Stooping, crouching and bending, working in tight space
- Standing, walking
- Good visual ability
- Good hearing ability

**Education, Experience, and Minimum Requirements**:
- High school diploma, or equivalent
- Minimum one year driving experience
- Valid full G driver’s license
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Background Check and Driver’s Abstract will be required
- Ability to learn and adapt to new computer systems and software programs
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $18.00 per hour
