**Job Description - Payroll and Accounting Specialist**

**Who We Are**:
With the combined forces of Daimler Truck AG and Volvo Group, we bring together 30 years’ worth of extensive experience in developing safe and efficient world-class fuel cell systems. By using hydrogen in our fuel cells, we create energy without emitting anything but pure water.

As the pioneer in developing and manufacturing hydrogen fuel cell systems, our aggregates are applicable for any use. They can be flexibly adapted to various uses such as a clean powertrains in trucks, other commercial vehicles or as emergency power supplies of critical facilities in data centers.

Today, more than 550 highly specialized colleagues work on the success of fuel cell systems in inter-disciplinary teams at the locations in Nabern, Untertürkheim (Germany) and Burnaby (Canada) together with our participating technology and cooperation partners. Approximately 700 individual patents have been issued, underlining cellcentric’s leading role when it comes to technological development. Our ambition is to make cellcentric a leading global manufacturer of fuel cells, and thus help the world take a major step towards climate-neutral and sustainable transportation by 2050.

**Position Overview**

As our new Payroll and Accounting Specialist, you will have a dual-role position. Your primary focus will be on payroll-related topics. You will be the go-to person for all payroll matters and ensure that our team of approximately 70 employees is paid accurately and on time every two weeks. You will work with ADP Workforce now, collaborate closely with ADP as well as our HR and Finance team. In addition to payroll, you will also support our accounting team with various finance-related tasks. You’ll work closely with Finance to ensure accurate reporting and smooth financial processes. We are a small but dynamic team, and your attention to detail and sense of ownership will make a real difference.

**What You’ll Do**

**Payroll**
- Process and manage bi-weekly payroll in ADP
- Ensure payroll is fully compliant with BC and federal regulations (CPP, EI, WCB, taxes, etc.)
- Record payroll journal entries and handle timely remittances of pension contributions
- Review and reconcile payroll data; resolve discrepancies quickly and independently
- Validate invoices from benefits providers and assist with benefit administration
- Prepare and submit year-end filings (T4s, EHT, etc.)
- Maintain accurate employee records in collaboration with HR and Finance
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries clearly and confidentially
- Support improvements to payroll processes and reporting

**Accounting**
- Assist in the daily management of invoices including weekly payment runs
- Review expense and credit card reports
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and assist with month-end closing
- Prepare monthly government remittances e.g. GST, PST, Statistics Canada

**What You Bring**
- 3+ years of Canadian payroll and accounting experience (ideally with ADP and/or SAP)
- PCP certification (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) - required
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, HR, Business, or a related field
- Good understanding of payroll legislation and statutory remittances
- Solid understanding of local GAAP and IFRS
- Great organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills - in writing and one-on-one
- Tech-savvy: comfortable with MS Office ideally SAP and Power BI, and experience with pivot tables and formulas,
- Experience working in a global environment is a plus
- A hands-on, detail-loving mindset with a knack for problem-solving

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $57,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 - 24 per week
