**Position Description**:
The Communications Advisor, External Communications, will join the dynamic Communications & Public Affairs (CPA) team at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), contributing to a range of external communications activities highlighting SickKids' role as a national and global leader in children's health.

**Here's What You'll Get To Do**
- Conduct daily and as-it-happens media monitoring and produce daily media monitoring report;
- Perform ongoing social media monitoring and community management, including escalating issues to the broader team and other SickKids departments, and responding to direct messages;
- Respond to media requests;
- Help organize and/or supervise interviews and photo/video/media shoots, as well as events;
- Triage and respond to social media requests and submitted content from internal clients;
- Interview and consent patients and families for content/stories or events;
- Attend events and activities across the SickKids campus to capture photos/videos for timely and dynamic social media coverage;
- Interview and work with SickKids patients and families to create original content for SickKids channels and engage with user-generated content as appropriate;
- Proactively develop and write web stories, social media posts and coordinate the development of multimedia content to support communications strategies and staff;
- Develop high-impact social media content, including videos, photos, graphics and engaging captions for SickKids' corporate accounts (Instagram, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube);
- Stay on top of social media trends, explore new channels and seek new opportunities to expand and engage with SickKids' social media audiences;
- Conduct research and fact-checking to support storytelling and other initiatives;
- Track and report social media analytics proactively and upon request;
**Here's What You'll Need**
- Degree/diploma in communications, public relations, social or digital media, journalism or marketing;
- 1-2 years of communications, social media or media experience;
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with an eye for visuals. Proofreading experience and familiarity with Canadian Press style guide are assets;
- On the pulse of social media channels including Instagram, LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube and Bluesky;
- An understanding of current events and the media landscape;
- Sound judgment, solid strategic thinking and troubleshooting skills, as well as the ability to carefully manage sensitive and confidential information;
- Ability to balance competing deadlines with strong organizational and project management skills;
- Ability to work independently to determine day-to-day activities and to set work priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a variety of internal and external partners;
- Great attention to detail;
- Team player who excels at collaborating with others to achieve common goals.
