**Missions and Responsibilities**

The main object and purpose of this position consist in testing and maintaining cylinders in a safe manner in order to satisfy customer expectations and improve quality of operations, all while promoting ALC’s quality and safety objectives.
- **Ensures cylinders maintenance**:Removes old labels. Removes / Installs valves. Replaces defective safeties, stems, packing nuts and handles on cylinder valves. Prepares cylinders for shot blasting by scraping of decals. Inspects cylinders that have been shot blasted and segregates damaged cylinders for repair or scrap. Paints cylinders and applies decals and markings. Cleans and maintains spray guns and equipment in good working order. Initializes each cylinder in Servitrax system (ALC traceability system). Maintains a clean work area as well as any other area which may be assigned. Removes valves when required. Uses fiber optic light to inspect the interior of the cylinder when required. Operates the shot blaster. Safely purge residual gas from cylinders when required. Safely empty and repair cryogenic portable vessels (VGL). Participates in maintaining inventory of parts (valves, tape, screws,) using a system in place.
- **Quality / Safety**: Understands and implements required procedures (Standard Operating Instructions) as established in the relevant Quality Manual. Verifies equipment for accuracy with a calibrated cylinder. Actively promotes ALC safety and quality objectives. Knows and respects all procedures as indicated in the ALC Quality Manual. Make sure the appropriate corrective and preventive measures are in place in order to answer customer complaints.
- **Prepares reports**:Finds information in the technical reference manual and prepares production reports on the number of cylinders tested, painted, the number of valves repaired, the number of cylinders stained and cleaned and the number of defects. Provides this information to the Plant Supervisor.
- **Process improvement**:Works with his/her team as well as with cross-functional teams to continuously improve the work process. Continuously analyzes the functioning of the activity, identifies causes of dysfunction and proposes corrective measures accordingly.

**Competencies and Profile**
- **Diploma**: High School Diploma and or combination of education and experience in compressed gases. WHMIS & TDG certificate.
- **Training**: Forklift training
- **Knowledge**: Composition of different gases, good reading comprehension, MS Office would be an asset.
- **Experience **: Preferable 2 years of cylinder sorting and/or cylinder filling experience
